This is our “All about us” board. We drew ourselves and put
them up on the wall. I think they look really really cool. Miss Crowley taught
us how to draw them by using lines that we erase. We colored them with crayons.
Next to the pictures are papers all about us. We had to tell our favorite movie,
favorite color, favorite and so much more. For back to school night our parents
had to try to guess who we were. My mom guessed me because she saw that I love
mac and cheese. It was a fun project. By: Penguin.

Economy Vocab Stores!
We pretended to make stores this week. We had
fun making them. We made them to show what we learned about producers,
consumers, goods and services. We had to make a store that sold one good and
one service. I made a hotel that sells bouncy balls and lets people sleep there
at night. When we were done we presented them to the class. They were so silly
to make and so much fun to hear about it. I loved learning about these new
words. By: Sea Otter
Emojis Board!
This is our emoji board. Emojis express our feelings. We
made these emojis during the first week of school. Emojis are very cute and
silly. Some emojis are happy, some are sad and some look mad. We all chose
happy emojis because we are happy to be in Second grade. We wrote a sentence
around our emoji plates to tell how we are feeling. Then we wrote a reason on
the back. We love how happy they look on our wall! We hope you like them to.

The Second Grade Blog
As part of the Katherine Drexel Initiative, our school took on Blended Learning this year. As a result, students will be learning with an emphasis on the integration of technology. Not only will teachers enhance their whole class instruction with laptops, ipads, document cameras, and projectors, but they will also be using it to differentiate their instruction to reach each and every child's needs. As a result, they will be able to address an individual's ability, interest and developmental level.
Teachers will combine their everyday best practices with technology, so as to teach students to think critically, collaborate with others and communicate their understanding. Finally, they will be taught to ethically and responsibly use technology.
This blog is a means by which they can begin to do all that. Each week two students from each class will be in charge of writing a post on their class page about what they've been learning. They will be working in groups to brainstorm, craft and edit each others posts. Students will also be responsible for monitoring visitor's comments, and commenting on each others' posts.
Stories, and projects that students create will be posted for parents to see, enjoy and occasionally download.
This blog will hopefully be a wonderful way to not only teach technology and its various uses, but also to document the year's progress to share with others.
Hope you enjoy it!
